Financial Aid Fraud Detection

In the fall of 2011 the Department of Education issued a “Dear Colleague” letter to higher education institutions warning them about an alarming rise in cases of fraud rings enrolling so called “Straw Students” at colleges and universities across the country. These “Straw Students” were only enrolling long enough to accept a financial aid disbursement in the form of a check or debit card and then they would drop out — in many cases only to enroll in another school not long after.

It is estimated that nearly $1 Billion worth of Pell Grants are misappropriated each year and that dollar amount is growing quickly. iDatafy® has created StudentReview®, a new patent pending contributory database, to help higher education institutions not just meet new government requirements for financial aid due diligence – but exceed them as well.
